From 17 to 18 July 2008, the National Meeting on Population and Family Planning Program among the Floating Population was held in Tianjin. Mr. Chen Chaoying, member of the standing committee of Tianjin CPC Committee and secretary general of Tianjin Working Committee for Education and Health met with Mr. Wang Pei'an, Vice Minister of National Population and Family Planning Commission of China (NPFPC) and accompanying officials.

Vice Minister Wang inspected the service activities among the floating population in Nankai District, Tianjin. He fully confirmed the work done by Nankai District during recent years in strengthening family planning service and management among the floating population based on information construction as a carrier.

Vice Minister Wang said that, family planning service and management among the floating population was an important component of social management and public service among the floating population, and a key link in stabilizing the low fertility level and comprehensively solving population issues. With the great significance attached by and under the correct leadership of Tianjin government, a lot of achievements had been made in population and family planning program in Tianjin. For years, Tianjin had kept a relatively low fertility level and actively explored new ways and methods in comprehensively solving population issues. We visited the service and management information system for the floating population in Nankai District. It played a good role in information guidance, comprehensive enquiry and systematic analysis in their daily work with effective experiences, which reflected from one aspect that Tianjin had laid solid foundation for their work in population and family planning service and management. It was hoped that Tianjin and other places in China could gasp the key points in service and management among the floating population, made new breakthroughs at the key links and made even greater achievements.
