
From 29 to 30 June 2009, the Department of International Cooperation of National Population and Family Planning Commission of China (NPFPC) held a Training Workshop on Promotion of China/Japan Cooperative Project to Strengthen Capacity Building in Reproductive Health and Family Health Care Service in Central and West China in Yuci District, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. It was a scaling-up activity to follow up the completion of the project, mainly targeting at 21 counties/districts in 19 provinces/autonomous regions in central and west China, for the purpose of laying solid basis for further promotion of the project and reinforcing exchanges among the project areas.
The training workshop included three parts: lectures by experts, introduction of cases and exchange of experiences. The experts talked about promotion of reproductive health and family health care from the view of public service and public health and related background, protective health system in Japan and related experiences, health education and prevention of infectious diseases, suggestions for standard health examination and capacity building in continuous health consultation, and some others. Representatives from project pilot areas and some project promotion areas, on the basis of their practices in implementing related projects, introduced their experiences in health examination and health guidance, application of health education methods, organization and management of health care services, and formulation of promotion plans at county level. The trainees took an active part in the discussions. Expected results were achieved at the end of the training workshop.
Representatives from population and family planning commissions of Shanxi Province and Jinzhong City, Yuci District Government and Department of International Cooperation of NPFPC attended the workshop and made addresses. Related experts and about 60 participants from the project promotion counties took part in the workshop.
