To further improve its reproductive health and family health care service, Hainan Province is actively promoting and strengthening the service pattern practiced under the project of capacity building in reproductive health and family health care service in middle and west China. On 24th December 2009, Hainan Population and Family Planning Commission conducted a meeting to promote the project. Participants to the meeting included vice general-directors in charge of science and technology and heads of family planning service stations from the project counties/cities, such as Chengmai County, Qionghai City, Wenchang City, Changjiang City, Chanzhou City and Tunchang County, and leaders from Hainan Family Planning Service Center.
Mr. Hu Daji, Vice General Director of Hainan Population and Family Planning Commission chaired the meeting and made an important speech. He highly appraised the experiences of Chengmai County in carrying out the project service pattern and pointed out that implementation of reproductive health and family health care service was a measure for population and family planning departments to widen their work thinking and to innovate their working mechanism and an effective way to reinforce public service and comprehensively address population issues. All places in Hainan Province must include this project service pattern into the contents of their quality of care in family planning, draw on the experiences of the project in middle and west China and, in the process of promoting quality of care with technical service as the emphasis, actively carry out reproductive health and family health care service on the basis of their own conditions.
Participants visited the places where Chenmai County was carrying out reproductive health and family health care services at the town/township level, and conducted exchanges on the service patterns for maternal health care, health care for the middle-aged and the elderly and adolescent health care based on such major service patterns as health education, health examination and health consultation. They said they would actively learn the experiences of Chengmai County and carry out reproductive health and family health care services in promoting quality of care with the focus on technical services.
